I think by now, my readers know that I am a true, die hard, Michael Jackson fan, so it should be no surprise that I was compelled to see the movie, "This is It" on opening night. Although I didn't get to go to Hollywood or Burbank with the other die hard fans, I didn't need to, because the movie grabs you from start to finish and never let's go. It was more than a movie, it was an experience. It was a small glimpse into the ingenuity and creativity of the greatest entertainer the world will ever know. The show Michael planned was going to be different, and it was going to be very BIG. From wonderful ballads to Smooth Criminal which uses footage from Humphrey Bogart, and combines it with Michael Jackson green screened video to produce awesome special effects, I was blown away. They remade Thriller into a 3D viewing experience, complete with glasses. The "This Is It" concert was going to take the audience to another level, and raise the bar for concerts. They combined different technological mediums to give you a 360 degree experience. If the movie was that good, I can only imagine what it would have been like to be at the concert. I saw a side of Michael that I had never seen before: the perfectionist, the kind soul, and of course, the boss. Although he was a perfectionist, he was also patient and kind with his employees. The movie was done tastefully, without much focus on his death. However, at the end of the movie, you wish there were more, but "This Is It." I give the movie a 9, and say it's a must see.

So, I broke down on Saturday and took my 12 year old daughter to the movie, "Paranormal Activity." I did not want to see the movie, because I heard it was made with only 11,000 dollars, which meant "low budget" and probably not very good. Oh, was I wrong. The premise of the movie was a couple had some weird happenings in their home, and the boyfriend, Micah decides to put up a video camera to record them sleeping each night. The camera is always rolling, and we get to see the interesting things that transpire as they sleep. We have all heard things that go bump in the night, but in Paranormal Activity, your heart is racing because you can identify with some of the sounds heard in the house, and the general questioning of where they are coming from in your home. I always blame it on the home settling. I typically do not like anything shot in one or two locations, but this is the first time that it was acceptable to me. In my movie reviews, I don't give anything away, because it will take away your enjoyment of the movie, but I do tell you my opinion and whether you should see it. If you are a scary movie buff, this is right up your alley. My daughter loved the movie and when she returned home, she was on the internet looking up information. I must also say that this is not a home experience. I think the movie can be viewed best in the theatre where there is lots of interaction among patrons. You can also see the fear of of other moviegoers, first hand. You could see people crunching in their seats, because they were scared to death, and wondering what would happen next. Not to mention the end, which was realllllly scary. Go see it with someone you can clutch onto. On a rating scale of 1 to 10, I would give this movie a 7+, which is pretty good.

Last evening was the season finale of the Real Housewives of Atlanta, and in usual fashion, it did not disappoint. The highlight of the evening was the He by Dwight fashion show. Oh, I mean the "She by Sheree" fashion show. It was fabulous in every sense of the word. I really hate to say it, but the entire show trumped Lisa's from the word go. I loved the clothing line, which was truly inspired by Sheree. I could see her wearing each piece, except those funny looking booty shorts, but everything else screamed, "Sheree, Sheree, Sheree." I love the clothes, but what would the housewives be without a little drama. NeNe and Kim were up to their old tricks and it got so nasty that Kim says she was choked by NeNe. During the show reception, Kim called NeNe a big moose and said she would hit her in the eye with her six inch heel - OUCH! It gets better. At the show, NeNe walks over to Kandi to speak with her about their previous altercation at Sheree's Independence party. She started off by saying how bad she felt after she left. Kandi retorted that she felt bad also. After that, NeNe jumps right in and tells Kandi that she feels an apology is owed to her because of the altercation. I guess she hasn't figure out yet that Kandi is not the one to mess with. Kandi stood up for herself again, and then asked why were they having the conversation. NeNe made a hand gesture and then walked off. As if that wasn't good enough, she said in the interview portion that she hoped Kim, Kandi and Tardy for the Party burn in hell.
Oh yes, I forgot Lisa and Ed. Well, they are downsizing into a smaller mansion. Apparently, it belonged to Ed when he was single. It's really nice, and they own it outright. I am sure that they let the other home go as a prudent business decision. They couldn't get a workout on their loan and it wasn't worth the $200,000 a year. I hope that they don't get into trouble, because the bank will loose $1 million on the home that was featured on the show.
Well, now I can't wait for next week's reunion. To be sure, the gloves will come off with Lisa and Sheree who have both made diggs on the other's clothing line. Well, it's a two part show, so we'll be left guessing for two more week. Take care and I will file this one under, "Don't be Tardy for the Party."

By now, you have all heard the word "Balloon Boy", or you know the now infamous Heene family who hoaxed the entire world into believing their six year old son had been taken off by a helium inflated, weather balloon. Well, we now know that it was all planned and rigged by the child's wannabee celebrity whore parents. I think this family has stooped to a new level, and should be brought up on charges for child endangerment, among other things. The world stopped for a moment to join with the parents, as concern mounted over the safety and well being of their child. Not to mention, the law enforcement agencies; local, state and federal who came to aid this so-called distraught family in an effort to help them retrieve their son. I personally should sue them, because I was traumatized at the thought of a six year old being up in the sky, alone, in a weather balloon. I was further traumatized when the balloon came down with no one in it. This real life drama was brought right into my own home. I was on pins and needles until I found out the boy was safe. The Heene's have some serious esplainin (Ricky Ricardo accent) to do. If they place such high value on entertainment, and no value or concern for public safety, they deserve the swift kick in the but that they are going to get. They have angered many people in law enforcement and this is far from over. I guess his ploy to become famous has worked - well, infamous at least. He will forever be associated with this silly stunt. Last I heard, The Heene's now have an attorney to try and throw some ice on the hot water they are in. I'm going to file this one under, "stupid, stupid, stupid."

This evening, I was watching, "The Secret Lives of Women" on "WE" television. The topic was weight loss and how four women changed their lives through various weight loss methods. One young woman started a video blog to document her weight loss journey. It immediately reminded me of the Weight Loss Challenge that I started in the initial days of this blog. That was a while ago, and I lost a little weight, but after a month or two, the challenge was over, and I did not come out the "The Biggest Loser." My love affair with food was back on, and the challenge ended in defeat. Watching the show, I was truly inspired by women whose lives were not unlike my own. They were overweight and unhappy with their physical appearance. They all took matters into their own hands and came out victorious. I might also add, that each woman had an individual approach to her weight loss. Some decided to get gastric surgery, while others preferred cutting back with exercise. So, I'm thinking that maybe I will give it another try. Hey, you can never know success until you know failure. Well, when it comes to weight loss, failure has been my unwanted best buddy, and I am ready to shed that buddy for a new body. With the holidays rolling around the corner, it won't be easy, but I'm ready for the challenge.

If you're hiding under a rock, you probably haven't heard the latest news on the arrest of the acclaimed film director, Roman Polanski. The arrest stems back to a 1977 conviction of unlawful sexual intercourse with a minor who was only 13 at the time. Apparently, after he raped the young girl, she told her mother who went to the authorities. Polanski was convicted and made a deal with the prosecution for a light sentence of 42 days. However, no one bothered to tell the judge, who was not bound to the agreement between Polanski and the prosecutor. Fearing a heavy prison sentence, Roman Polanski fled to France, where he has resided for many years. He was captured while on his way to Poland to receive a Lifetime Achievement Award.
First let me say that I think what he did was the most egregious of crimes, because he violated a minor. That said, the woman in question has indicated that she wants the whole thing to be forgotten. Also, it's been several years since the crime, and the U.S. had ample opportunity to capture Polanski, prior to now. I find it ironic that the U.S. decides to capture him at a time when we are on the verge of letting other criminals go for the sake of tipping the budget in the positive direction. Needless to say that prosecuting someone like Polanski will take millions of dollars, because he is a wealthy man. Yes, his crime was horrific, but it should have been dealt with swiftly when it happened, and certainly before now. I think we're once again spreading our mighty muscle, and not using our mighty head.
I am not one of those celeb crazy folks who feel he should be exonerated, because wrong is wrong. However, he shouldn't be prosecuted simply because he is Roman Polanski. We're not even sure if Poland will extradite him, and if they don't, we've already started to waste tax dollars.

The VMA Awards were going pretty well, until Kanye West decided to inform Taylor Swift that Beyonce's song, "Single Ladies" was the best video ever. Oh, I didn't mention that he jumped on stage during her acceptance speech to inform her. Well, Kanye hasn't quite been himself lately. He's hanging around with seedy characters, and I don't think it's a stretch to say that he may be on drugs. I can't really come up with any other explanation as to why he would do something so beyond stupid. Oh yes, maybe he was sleep deprived, or perhaps oxygen deprived, or both. I don't know, but he really screwed up tonight. The crowd booed him, and Beyonce looked stunned and confused at his public display of ignorance. Later during the show when Beyonce won for best video of the year, she allowed Taylor to come on stage and finish her speech.
Kanye seems to be really full of himself lately, and just blurts out whatever he wants. That's okay, but during an acceptance speech, I think it's agreed that if you're not the one whose name was called, you sit in your seat and either shut up, or clap. If memory serves me well, one year when Kanye won an award, he indicated that the award should have went to Lil Wayne. If he knows so much about who should win, he should probably take a more proactive stance and get on the board of the VMA's or something. I am still shaking my head at him being such a moron. I think he owes Taylor a huge public apology, flowers, diamonds and maybe a Rolls Royce to top it off. In other words, he messed up big and now must pay. Let's file this one under "if you have nothing nice to say, then shut up." Hmmh, where have I heard that before?
